Color Subtraction:

Define:

Color subtraction leads to the dividends of light. The principles of color subtraction are based on the three principles: Pigments, Reflecting Surfaces, and Filters. These affects on the light from the Filters, Reflecting Surfaces, and Pigments modify the light before it reaches your eyes, where the color is more simple, or more divided from its other colors through absorption and other processes while going through the three modifiers.

Color Filter:

Color filters are colors like, Cyan, Magenta, and yellow.
ie: Cyan=White-Red
Magenta=White-Green
Yellow=White-Blue
So the result of color subtraction from white equals a color filter. Its another pretty cool thing about lights and colors; that keep this subject interesting.
